The Song
"Mera Banega Tu" is a soft, heartfelt love ballad built around one simple promise - "Maine socha na tha, ek din yaara, mera banega tu" (I had never imagined that one day, my love, you would become mine). The verses describe a beloved so rare that wherever she showers her presence, a river comes to life, and even a glimpse of her in a dream colours the lover's eyes. A short English bridge - "Can you be mine, be my lifeline" - sits in the middle of the song and gives the Hindi ballad a young, contemporary feel, while a Punjabi-flavoured verse adds folk warmth to the romance.
The Artists
Lakshay Kapoor has sung "Mera Banega Tu" in a gentle, emotive voice that carries the song's sense of wonder and gratitude. The lyrics are by Kunaal Vermaa, one of the most successful Hindi lyricists of recent years, whose simple, direct words make the hook instantly memorable. The music is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, whose mellow arrangement keeps the focus on the melody and the words, letting the romance of the song breathe.

Mera Banega Tu Lyrics in English
Wherever you shower your presence
That place will become a river
Even if you come only in my dreams
My eyes will be filled with colour
There may be a second moon somewhere
But in this world, there is only one you
I had never imagined
That one day, my love
You would become mine
As long as I breathe
This is my promise
You will live in my heart
I had never imagined
That one day, my love
You would become mine
As long as I breathe
This is my promise
You will live in my heart
I have joined my breaths with yours
Keep them safe
My whole world turns towards you, only towards you
Do not let go of my hand
For even a moment, my beloved
Whatever happens tomorrow, stay mine
I am grateful to you
You have filled every empty place in me
Whenever there was pain
You became the one who shared my pain
I would lay down my life for you
I yearn restlessly
Until I can see you
I had never imagined
That one day, my love
You would become mine
As long as I breathe
This is my promise
You will live in my heart
Can you be mine
Be my life line
I will love you
Till the end of time
Let me hold you
Be my one true
Love will sail through
Till the end of time
You will become mine
You will become mine
Mera Banega Tu Lyrics Meaning
The meaning of "Mera Banega Tu" is the wonder of a lover who cannot quite believe his fortune. The singer tells his beloved that she brings life wherever she goes - the ground she touches turns into a river, and even her appearance in a dream colours his eyes. There may be a second moon somewhere in the sky, he says, but in this world there is only one her. The chorus turns that wonder into a vow: he had never imagined that one day she would become his, and as long as he breathes, she will live in his heart.
The later verses deepen the promise. In the Punjabi-flavoured lines he says he has joined his very breaths with hers and asks her to keep them safe, never letting go of his hand whatever tomorrow brings. He thanks her for filling every empty place in his life and for becoming his partner in pain ("humdard") whenever he was hurting. The English bridge simply restates the same vow in another language - a request to be his lifeline and a promise to love her till the end of time.
