Introduction
Daylight is a song by English singer-songwriter Harry Styles from his third studio album, Harry’s House, released on 20 May 2022. The fifth track on the album, it is a restless, guitar-led love song written in a single overnight session — Styles cursing the daylight because it means the night, and the girl, are gone. On this page you will find the full Daylight lyrics in English, complete song details, the meaning behind the song, the official video and answers to frequently asked questions.
The Song
Daylight was written in a stream of consciousness after Styles had stayed up all night thinking about a relationship, and he and the band stayed awake until sunrise to finish it — which is how the song earned its name. It opens mid-scene: he is on the roof, she is in her airplane seat, and the distance between them is already hurting. The pre-chorus turns playful, with Styles wishing he was a bluebird so he could fly to her, before the chorus lands the hook — daylight has him calling at all hours, and he is not sleeping until it comes. Styles has confirmed in interviews that the song has no connection to Taylor Swift’s song of the same name.
The Artists
Daylight is performed by Harry Styles, who wrote the song with Kid Harpoon (Thomas Hull) and Tyler Johnson. Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson also produced the track, as they did for most of Harry’s House.
The Music Video
Daylight arrived with the album as an official audio video on Harry Styles’ YouTube channel. An official music video, directed by Tanu Muino, followed on 19 July 2022, showing Styles joining a travelling circus — walking a tightrope, riding a flying bicycle and performing among the carnival acts. You can watch the video on this page in the video section below the lyrics and their meaning.
The Music Label
Daylight was released by Columbia Records, in partnership with Harry Styles’ own Erskine Records. Columbia has been Styles’ label home throughout his solo career, and the label released Harry’s House worldwide on 20 May 2022, with the album going on to win Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

Daylight Lyrics in English
I'm on the roof
You're in your airplane seat
I was nose bleedin'
Looking for life out there
Readin' your horoscope
You were just doing cocaine in my kitchen
You never listen
I hope you're missing me by now
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You'd be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight (Ooh)
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight (Ooh)
Daylight, you got me calling at all times (Ooh)
Ain't gonna sleep 'til the daylight (Ooh)
Out of New York
I'm on the come down speed
We're on bicycles
Saying, "There's life out there"
You've got the antidote
I'll take one to go, go, please
Get the picture, cut out my middle
You ain't got time for me right now
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You'd be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you (Ooh)
(Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh)
Daylight, you got me calling at all times (Ooh)
Ain't gonna sleep 'til the daylight (Ooh)
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight (Ooh)
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight (Ooh)
Daylight, you got me calling at all times (Ooh)
Ain't gonna sleep 'til the daylight (Ooh)
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You'd be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you
Lyrics Meaning
Daylight is about loving someone who keeps slipping away. She is on a plane, out of New York, too busy for him — “you ain’t got time for me right now” — while he stays up all night reading her horoscope and hoping she misses him. Daylight becomes the enemy: it ends the night, confirms she is gone, and finds him still awake and calling at all times. The bluebird image softens the desperation — if he could, he would simply fly to her and stick to her like honey on a spoon. It is devotion and frustration in the same breath, which is why the song swings between tender verses and a wired, sleepless chorus.
