Dhaagon Se Bandha Lyrics - Raksha Bandhan | Shreya Ghoshal

Dhaagon Se Bandha Lyrics - Raksha Bandhan

Introduction

Dhaagon Se Bandha is the emotional heart of the 2022 Hindi film Raksha Bandhan. Sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, composed by Himesh Reshammiya and written by Irshad Kamil, the song celebrates the sacred thread of love between a brother and his sisters. On this page you will find the complete Dhaagon Se Bandha lyrics in Hindi (Devanagari), Roman Hindi and English translation, along with the song's meaning, full details and the official music video.

The Song

Built around the metaphor of kacche dhaage (raw, delicate threads), the song says that the weakest-looking thread becomes the strongest bond of all when it is tied as a rakhi. The melody is soft and nostalgic, moving from childhood memories to a promise of lifelong protection. It plays in the film at the moments where the brother remembers growing up with his four sisters, which is why lines about an incomplete home without a sister hit so hard.

The Artists

Arijit Singh brings the brother's tenderness and longing to the male lines, while Shreya Ghoshal's graceful voice carries the warmth of the sisters. Himesh Reshammiya composes a gentle, strings-led melody, and Irshad Kamil writes some of his most heartfelt lines on the brother-sister bond. The film Raksha Bandhan is directed by Aanand L. Rai and stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar.

The Music Video

The official video shows Akshay Kumar as the devoted elder brother celebrating Raksha Bandhan with his sisters, tying the festive moments of the film to the song's promise of staying together till the last breath. Watch the official video embedded below on this page.

Dhaagon Se Bandha Lyrics in Roman Hindi

Kacche dhaagon ka yeh rishta

Bann jata hai bachpan se

Marte dum tak saath nibhaye

Bandh ke raksha bandhan se

Dhaagon se bandha

Ehsaas dil ke rishte ka

Rishta yeh apna

Rabb ki rubaayi

Main rahoon na main tere bina

Tu rahe na tu mere bina

Main rahoon na main tere bina

Tu rahe na tu mere bina

Chaar dishaon jaisi

Tum ho mere liye zaroori

Tum na ho toh har din aadha

Har ik shaam adhoori

Aadha mujhe rehna nahi

Kuch kam lage woh ghar mujhe

Jismein koi behna nahi

Yaadon se bandha

Jazba yeh apne rishte ka

Rishta yeh apna

Rabb ki rubaayi

Main rahoon na main tere bina

Tu rahe na tu mere bina

Main rahoon na main tere bina

Tu rahe na tu mere bina

Dhaagon Se Bandha Lyrics in English Translation

This bond made of raw threads

Is formed right from childhood

It stays with you till your last breath

Tied together by Raksha Bandhan

Bound by threads

Is this feeling of the heart's bond

This bond of ours

Is God's own poem

May I never have to live without you

May you never have to live without me

May I never have to live without you

May you never have to live without me

Like the four directions

You are essential to me

Without you, every day is only half

Every single evening is incomplete

I do not want to live half a life

That home feels lacking to me

In which there is no sister

Bound by memories

Is this passion of our bond

This bond of ours

Is God's own poem

May I never have to live without you

May you never have to live without me

May I never have to live without you

May you never have to live without me

Lyrics Meaning in English

Dhaagon Se Bandha is a tribute to the brother-sister relationship. The rakhi thread may be made of raw, fragile cotton, yet the song says this bond, formed in childhood, lasts until death. The refrain calls the relationship "Rabb ki rubaayi" — a poem written by God himself. In the second verse the sister is compared to the four directions that surround and complete a person: without her, days feel half and evenings incomplete, and a house without a sister feels empty. The hook "Main rahoon na main tere bina" is a prayer that the siblings never have to live apart.
